BTS Finally Protected by International Law

 

Until now, the rights of the Korean Wave led by BTS overseas have not been fully protected. There was no way to stop the atrocities of Japanese copycat groups Ballistic Boys and Stones, as well as American singers Tissue and Italian singer Seiel, as well as numerous plagiarism people from around the world who ignored BTS' copyright.

 

 

However, on the 22nd, Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will join the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Reality, which is overseen by Wipo, a world-renowned property organization. It's been announced. It has laid the foundation for various Korean Wave contents led by BTS, which have not been fully protected, to be protected in a number of Korean Wave countries.

 

Until now, in Korea, WPTT has been protected by a treaty that protects only the auditory parts of singers and performers, but it has increased its ability to protect artists internationally by joining the Beijing Treaty organized by WIPO.

 

 

Prior to the signing of the treaty, there was a lack of international legal grounds to protect artists' copyrights and other diverse rights, but this treaty, which stipulates the obligation to protect them for the next 50 years, has resulted in the protection of artists' rights in various countries. More than 30 countries, including Japan, have joined the treaty, and Korea's rights treaty will take effect three months later on 2020-7-22.

 

Previously, it was difficult to legally punish BTS even if they plagiarized and betrayed them, but joining the treaty will make it easier to deal with and prevent numerous plagiarism cases such as the Ballistic Boys and Stones Tissue Seiel.

As Indonesia joins the Beijing Treaty for the 30th time on January 28, 2020, the Treaty of Beijing will take effect from April 28, 2020, three months later. However, the countries in which the treaty takes effect on April 28 are member states from 1 to 30, and the countries that have joined since then will have a treaty with the country from three months later based on the date of joining.
